We are very glad to announce that Dr. Houssem Saidi joins our team. Houssem will strengthen CARL’s Research & Innovation team as R&D engineer. He will be based in Boulogne-Billancourt and will come to Lyon for 1 week a month.
His work consists in exploring the use of extended reality (Augmented reality, mixed reality, and virtual reality) to assist maintenance technicians to diagnose, repair, and perform routine maintenance checks on systems and equipment. This entails leading and coordinating scientific work around these new technologies as well as organizing technical development work to lead, in the medium term, to a mature product that can be used by CARL Software’s clients.

Houssem holds a Ph.D. in computer science, with a specialization in interaction techniques for complex data mining. You can find out more about his Ph.D. research here: http://thesesups.ups-tlse.fr/4163/.
For the last two years, he worked as a research engineer at the Institut de Recherche en Informatique de Toulouse (IRIT – Université Toulouse III Paul Sabatier); during this period he collaborated with CARL Berger-Levrault and was responsible for the research and development of our first prototype Augmented Reality application for maintenance.
In addition to his training and professional experience as a researcher, he has held teaching positions in high school and had the opportunity to work as a manager of a team of after-sales technicians for a company managing geolocation and logistics resources.
